이 글은 최인훈 작품 전반에 나타나는 글쓰기의 원형을 밝히고자 하는 목적으로 기획되었다.「하늘의 다리」는 최인훈의 다른 작품들에 비해 심층에 놓여 있는 작가의 의식이 분명하게 드러난 작품이다. 무엇보다 예술에 대한 작가의 지향이 어디에서 연원하는지를 알 수 있게 해준다는 점에서 이 작품은 최인훈의 작품세계에서 중요한 자리를 차지한다. 「하늘의 다리」는 주인공을 통해 생활인과 예술가로서의 자의식을 보여준다. 이 작품에서 주목하는 것은 주인공이 순수예술을 통해서 자아 정체성을 확립해 가는 과정이다. 이 과정에서 주인공은 현실에 대한 환멸로 인해서 좌절하고 다시 새로운 방법을 모색한다. 현실에 대한 환멸로 인해 예술욕은 극대화되고, 그로인해 주인공은 능동적이고 현실비판적인 인물로 변화되어 간다. 그 결과 월남인이라는 피난민 의식은 망명객 의식으로 심화된다. 「하늘의 다리」에서 ‘하늘의 다리’는 분단이 고착화된 현재적 상황과, 그 상황에서 벗어나고자 하는 작가의 바람이 투영된 관념적 대상이다. 극복하기 어려운 상황에 대한 인식은 문명비판을 통해 구체적으로 드러나며, 작가의 궁극적인 지향은 ‘바다’의 표상으로 구체화된다. 여기에서 ‘바다’는「광장」의 ‘푸른 광장’,「구운몽」의 ‘황금시대’와 동일한 의미를 갖는다. 이처럼 작가의 지향은 끊임없이 변주되는 가운데 반복적으로 드러나는데,「하늘의 다리」는 작가의 체험적인 영역과 밀접하게 닿아있으면서, 작가적 지향의 구체적인 자리를 형상화하고 있다는 점에서 작가의 원형의식을 보다 선명하게 드러내준다.
Abstract
This writing was planned to seek a archetype of Choe in-hun's writings. To compares with the others, it appears clearly to the sub-recognition of the author in the 'Leg of Sky'. It is important that this text informs you that art intention of the author flows from where. The hero leads and shows the self-consciousness from the person of vitality and artistic width. In this process, the hero feel frustrated by his disillusion with irony of the reality, and then he try to find a solution to a problem. The hero's change -active, critical attitude- have sharpened a political exile sentiments. 'The leg of sky' is object identical that represent the circumstance isolated from each other and wish to takes him off from the current situation. The recognition civilizational criticism leads about difficult situation and becomes known concretely, the intention which the author is ultimate is materialized with the representation as a matter of `the sea'. `the sea' `the green open space', `golden age' come have the meaning which is identical on the text. Like this, intention of the author is played a variation becomes known repetitively. This text is reveal the archetype because this text with the territory where the author is experience closely is reaching and author intention makes clear in this text.
