조현병 요가치료 전문가의 경험에 근거한 효과적인 조현병 요가치료법 연구

본 연구는 조현병 환자를 대상으로 장기간 동안 요가치료법을 시행한 적이 있는 국내 전문가 3인의 경험에 근거하여 조현병 환자를 대상으로 하는 효과적인 요가치료의 의미와 치료의 핵심적 요소 및 지도자가 갖추어야 할 역량에 대하여 살펴봄으로써 국내 조현병 환자를 위한 요가치료법의 개발 연구에 실질적인 도움을 주고자 하여 시도되었다. 이를 위해 국내에서 현재 조현병 환자를 위해 요가 프로그램을 시행해오고 있는 전문가 3인을 대상으로 심층면접을 실시하여 자료를 수집하고 반복적 비교분석법을 통해 분석하였다. 반복적 비교분석법에 의해 도출된 연구를 분석한 결과 9개의 범주가 도출되었고 그 범주들은 조현병 요가치료의 특징, 치료자 또는 지도자가 갖추어야 할 역량, 요가치료 프로그램의 목표와 핵심적 요소를 드러내 주었다. 본 연구의 결과로 도출된 중요한 범주는 적은 양의 기초적 자세 수련의 필요성, 긍정적 체험의 필요성, 요가를 배우는 조현병 환자의 특징, 요가 지도자의 의연함, 지도자의 적극적인 언어적 안내와 표현, 동작의 자연스러운 배열(sequence), 각 아사나(동작) 사이에 이완이 필요함, 호흡 관찰하기, 신체감각과의 접촉 등 이다. 반면에 회기 내에 고급의 아사나(자세)를 수련하는 것을 목표로 하거나 지도자의 안내 없이 환자 스스로 명상을 하는 것 등, 강도 높은 수련과 지도자와 연결이 없는 수련은 비효과적이고 위험을 초래할 수 있는 것으로 나타났다. 따라서 본 연구는 조현병 환자가 실행하기 쉬운 요가 동작에 흥미를 증진시키고 지도자의 지속적인 안내와 격려로 회기 내내 환자가 계속 신체 활동과 호흡에 의식을 두면서 현실감과 자기효능감을 증진시키도록 하는 요가 프로그램을 조현병에 효과적인 요가치료의 정의로 제시한다.
Abstract
Based on the experience of three domestic experts who have practiced yoga therapy for patients with schizophrenia for a long period of time, this study was attempted to give practical help to the development of a Yoga program for patients with schizophrenia by examining the meaning of effective yoga therapy for schizophrenia, key elements of treatment, and the ability of leaders to have. To this end, in-depth interviews were conducted with three experts who have been practicing a yoga program for patients with schizophrenia in Korea, and data were collected and analyzed through repeated comparative analysis methods. In the results of the study, the experts in yoga therapy for schizophrenia defined it as effective Yoga program for patients with schizophrenia to promote patient interest through relaxation and body-oriented activities, and to allow patients to continue to be conscious of physical activity throughout the session with continuous guidance and encouragement from the leader. On the other hand, a high degree of training, such as aiming to train high-quality asana (position) within the session or meditating patients themselves without guidance from the leader, and training without connection with the leader, have been shown to be ineffective and risky. Therefore, this study presents a yoga program that promotes interest in yoga behavior that patients with schizophrenia are easy to perform and promotes realism and self-efficacy while being conscious of body sense and breathing as a definition of yoga treatment effective for schizophrenia. The important categories derived as a result of this study are natural sequences of motion (arrangement), active linguistic guidance and expression of the leader, need relaxation between each asana (action), breathing observation, and contact with the physical sensation, making up the key elements of effective yoga.
