Abstract

Purpose Based on the historical and cultural evidence presented by regions claiming to be the birthplace of Taekwondo, this study aims to utilize cultural tourism resource development strategies as a driving force for both regional development and the advancement of Taekwondo. Method The discussion was based on findings from a literature review of media articles, laws, reports, and academic research related to the place of origin of Taekwondo. Results First, develop Taekwondo tourism programs in the place of origin regions, focusing on the history, techniques, and philosophy of Taekwondo. Second, secure funding through local ordinances related to Taekwondo or tourism in these regions. Third, operate cultural tourism products by involving Taekwondo-related organizations to establish cultural tourism hubs linked to the Taekwondo birthplace. Conclusion The significance of this study lies in its attempt to propose strategic approaches for utilizing regions claiming to be the birthplace of Taekwondo as cultural tourism resources, thereby presenting a new perspective that links the cultural value of Taekwondo with regional tourism assets. Furthermore, this study contributes to establishing both academic and practical foundations for the preservation and utilization of Taekwondo’s cultural heritage, while also expanding historical and cultural discussions on its place of origin.
