Abstract

The purpose of this study was to analyze differences in stress, depression, and suicidal ideation in university students according to their cognitive emotion regulation and resilience. For this, cluster analysis was conducted using cognitive emotional regulation and resilience variables, and the differences in stress, depression, and suicidal ideation according to cluster type were examined. A total of 365 university students were divided into four groups according to the cluster analysis. In consideration of the characteristics of each cluster, cluster 1 was elastic dominant type, cluster 2 was low adaptive elastic type, cluster 3 was highly adaptive elastic type, and cluster 4 was named as emotional regulation dominant type. Stress, depression, and suicidal thoughts by cluster type showed a significant difference. Cluster 3 showed the least stress, depression, and suicidal thoughtsas the most healthy group. On the other hand Cluster 2 was found to be a high risk group in stress, depression and suicidal ideation level. Finally, the implications and limitations of these findings and recommendations for further study were discussed.
