한국 학계의 독일 군사사 연구 동향과 과제

본고는 한국학계의 독일 군사사 연구 동향을 KCI 등재지 및 등재후보지에 게재된 논문을 중심으로 분석하고 이를 토대로 향후 군사사 연구 전망 및 과제를 도출한다. 독일 군사사 연구는 군사사의 보편적 경향뿐 아니라 그 특수성도 보여주며, 최근에는 기존의 전쟁사(Kriegsgeschichte)를 넘어 군사사(Militärgeschichte)가 정립되면서 수많은 연구성과들이 쏟아져 나오고 있다. 각 시대의 독일군을 다룬 독일 군사사 연구성과로는 해방전쟁 이후 프로이센 및독일 제2제국 시기의 군대에 관한 연구로부터 제1, 2차 세계대전 시기의 독일군, 서독 연방군(Bundeswehr)과 동독 인민군(Nationale Volksarmee), 현대 독일 연방군에 관한 연구 등이 있다. 또한 주제별로는 군사사 연구 방법론을 비롯하여 독일의군사사상 또는 군국주의(Militarismus), 내적지휘(Innere Führung), 군 인권, 군대문화, 연방군 법규 및 제도, 독일 재통일 시 동·서독 군사통합, 코로나 대유행 시기의 독일군 대응, 제4차 산업혁명 시대 독일군의 변화 등에 관한 연구가 진행되었다. 요컨대, 독일의 역사적 특수성을 반영한 이런 독일 군사사 연구성과들은 군사사발전은 물론, 세계 각국의 군 발전에 기여할 수 있는 시사점을 제공하고 있다. 이렇게 다양한 연구 분야에서 의미 있는 성과를 내놓고 있는 독일 군사사는 향후더 활발한 연구성과가 나올 수 있도록 다각적인 노력이 요구된다. 우선, 군사사 전문인력이 양성되어야 하고, 학제 간 연구를 통해 그 연구 지평이 확대되어야 한다. 또한 AI 및 빅데이터를 활용한 연구와 같이 연구 방법의 다양화도 이루어져야 한다. 이렇게 해서 나온 연구성과들은 군사 학회 및 세미나, 학술지를 통해 공유된다면 전문 학자뿐 아니라 대중들로부터 군사사에 관한 관심을 불러일으킬 수 있을 것이다. 이외에도 연구 활성화를 위해 군사사 연구소 및 군사사 전문 학과, 군사사 학회 등에서 왕성한 활동이 이어져야 한다. 앞으로도 꾸준한 발전이 예견되는 독일군사사는 본고를 통해 그동안의 연구활동을 정리하면서 한 단계 도약할 수 있는 마중물이 마련되기를 기대한다.
Abstract
This study analyzes the research trend of German Military History in Korean academia, focusing on papers published in KCI-listed and candidate sites, and draws future research prospects of German Military History. The study about German military history shows not only the universal trend of military history but also its specificity, and numerous research results have been pouring out, as Militärgeschichte has been established beyond Kriegsgeschichte. The results of research on German Military History include studies on the armed forces of Prussia and the German Empire, the Reichswehr, the Bundeswehr and the Nationale Volksarmee, and the modern German Federal Army. In addition, there are studies on military history research methodology, German military ideology or militarism, Inner Führung, military human rights, military culture, federal military laws and systems, East and West German military integration during German reunification, response to the German military during the Corona pandemic, and changes in the German military during the Fourth Industrial Revolution. In short, these German Military History research results reflecting Germany's historical specificity provide implications that can contribute not only to military history development but also to military development in countries around the world. German Military History requires various efforts to produce more active research results in the future. First of all, military history experts must be trained, and the research must be expanded through interdisciplinary research. In addition, research methods should be diversified, such as research using AI and Big Data. If the research results are shared through military academic societies, seminars, and academic journals, they can arouse interest in military history from the public as well as professional scholars. In addition, active activities should be continued in military history research institutes, military history departments, and military history societies. It is expected to provide a important foundation for development of Military History through this study.
