디아스포라 정체성과 이주자 내러티브에 관한 소고: 캐나다화인디아스포라 단편소설을 중심으로

초국적 존재로 자리매김하고 있는 전세계의 디아스포라 혹은 이주자들의 과거와 지금은 그들의 정체성이 주변과 어떻게 교류해왔는가 하는 문제들과 긴밀하게 연결되어 있다. 부유하듯 세계를 떠돌며 고향으로부터 분리되어 나온 이들은 복잡미묘한 내면의 갈등을 바탕으로 새롭게 조우하는 세계와 자신의 내면을 연결하는 일련의 과정들을 겪게 된다. 그리고 그 속에서 자신이 기존에 가지고 있던 내면의 자원들과 외부로부터 오는 자극들과의 관계 맺기의 과정 속에서 새롭게 형성되는 정체성의 변화를 경험하게 된다. 최근 10여 년간 중문학계에서 지속적으로 주목받고 있는 중국대륙 바깥의 화인에 관한 이슈는 20세기 중국문학의 경계넘기에 대한 도전의식과 더불어 중국문화의 세계화 및 세계 속 중국문화에 대한 관심의 증대라는 기대감 역시 내포하고 있다. 국내에서 타이완, 홍콩, 말레이시아, 미국의 화인이주자와 문학에 대한 진단 및 연구에서는 중국대륙의 전략적 사고가 다루어지곤 한다. 하지만 상대적으로 적지 않은 수의 화인이 거주하고 있으며 문학 활동 또한 비교적 활발하게 이루어지고 있는 캐나다 화인과 그들의 문학에 대한 연구는 문단의 크기나 영향력에 비해서 단순하게 다루어지거나 다른 지역의 화인 혹은 그들의 문학을 분석하면서 간단히 언급되는 수준에서 머무른 바 있다. 여기서는 陳浩泉 주편의 2009년 작품집 『楓雨同路: 加華作家小說選』에 수록된 단편소설 작품들과 화인이주자의 모습을 잘 설명할 수 있는 기타 작품과 자료들을 함께 연결하여 이를 통해 캐나다화인문학에서의 화인디아스포라의 이주자 내러티브가 어떤 특징을 가지고 나타나는지를 살펴보고 그 특징적인 측면을 캐나다라는 로컬의 화인디아스포라의 특징으로 일반화하는 데 있어서의 한계라는 문제를 중심으로 살펴보도록 하겠다.
Abstract
The past of diaspora or migrants around the world, which have established themselves as transnational beings, is now closely linked to the question of how their identity has interacted with their surroundings. Those who wander around the world as if they were rich and separated from their hometowns go through a series of processes that connect their inner lives with the newly encountered world based on complex and subtle inner conflicts. In addition, you experience a new change in identity in the process of establishing a relationship between your existing inner resources and stimuli from the outside. The issue of Chinese outside the Chinese continent, which has been attracting continuous attention in the Chinese literature community for the past decade, is expected to globalize Chinese culture and increase interest in Chinese culture in the world, along with a sense of challenge to crossing the boundaries of 20th century Chinese literature. In Korea, diagnosis and research on Chinese immigrants and literature in Taiwan, Hong Kong, Malaysia, and the United States often deals with strategic thinking in the Chinese continent. However, the study of Canadian painters and their literature, which has a relatively large number of Chinese residents and are relatively active in literature, has remained simple compared to the size and influence of the paragraph, or has been briefly mentioned while analyzing other local painters or their literature. Here, we will basically link other works and materials that can explain the appearance of the painter in the 2009 collection of Chen's works, and examine the characteristics of the painter's narratives in Canadian Chinese literature and its characteristic aspects as a localization of Canada.
