Abstract
The emergence of television threatened film industry but it also introduced a new format. Films adopted narratives, filming and editing methods, and sound effects of television. In <Nashville> by Robert Altman, we can easily find components influenced by television. This study analyzes how television influenced film in perspectives of story, image and sound. In <Nashville>, the everyday life of 24 main characters is delivered decentralized and fragmented. This multi-plot creates ‘simultaneous realism’, which television first adapted. What connects the stories is the cliché of everyday life. This film heavily criticizes public cultures and politics of America, where the media try to gather people’s attention by cliches.
