Abstract

This study researched on the chronology of ancient tombs in Indong area, Gumi, and examined the characteristics, classification, and regional style setting of the mounted cup excavated in the Indong area through the principal component analysis. First, the history of research on the Indong area in Gumi was organized, and the chronology of ancient tombs in the Indong area was organized from the mid-4th century to the pre-6th century, focusing on Hwangsang-dong Ancient Tombs, Okgye-dong Ancient Tombs, and Gupo-dong Ancient Sites. Since then, the principal component analysis has been conducted focusing on the mounted cup excavated from tombs in the mid to late 5th century, and how to classify the mounted cup in Indong area, what its characteristics are, and whether "local style" based on locality can be set. As a result, the mounted cup excavated in the Indong area was distinguished from the Gyeongju-style mounted cup based on the overall height and size of the cup, and the production area was found to be the Indong area in Gumi. However, it was judged that it was too much to set up the "Gumi Indong Style" because the characteristics seen in the mounted cup produced in the Indong area were also commonly identified in ancient tombs excavated in Seongju, Waegwan, and Chilgok around the same period.
