Abstract

The purpose of this study is to examine the dismantled structure, time and space revealed in Cho Si-hyun's "Children's Time" poetry collection, and the meaning of "story" repeatedly mentioned in poetry from a post-humanism perspective. Discussions on posthuman are actively progressing in the genre of fiction, but the trend is that they have continued insufficient research in the genre of poetry. However, in recent years, speculative imagination has penetrated the poetry genre, making it possible to discuss posthuman. Among them, this study aims to examine the discussion on posthuman as poetry by paying attention to Cho Si-hyun's “Children's Time” poetry collection. It is possible to discover non-human beings appearing in Cho Si-hyun's poetry and the time and space to which they belong, so that we can see how post-humanism is expressed in the poetry genre. In particular, in Cho Si-hyun's poetry, it has the peculiarity that the footnote invades the area of the text and draws the narrative. This means that the role and meaning of the footnote of the existing poem have changed. For this reason, it may be seen that in non-human and time and space appearing in poetry, the strict standards become ambiguous as they coexist with past records and human remnants. Furthermore, Si-Hyun Cho does not convey meaningless hope to the reader in a dystopian situation. Rather, it tells us the role of humans in the end of mankind and what humans should not miss in future situations by dismantling the structure of poetry that had been firmly maintained. In addition, the poet discusses the meaninglessness of the salvation narrative, confirming that for humans, only "story" creates variables in life and that continuing humanity is the only salvation.
