초록
In order to meet the challenges of today’s rapidly changing world, Korean graduate schools of Theology are in need of practical education and training beyond the classroom to equip students with spirituality and professionalism. This study analyzes how Theology graduate students taking Pastoral Counseling courses are affected in the areas of self-concept, interpersonal relationships, and spiritual growth by participating in client experience that helps them explore, understand, and resolve their inner conflicts. The results show that interpersonal relationship issues were handled most frequently during counseling sessions and that many actual changes were made in the interpersonal relationships of the Theology graduate students. This change in interpersonal relationships led to increased intimacy with God as well as positive changes in ministry and relationships with other members of the church. Such results suggest that the addition of client experience to the formal curriculum of graduate schools of Theology can practically help students achieve psychological health and be better equipped to understand and meet the needs of those seeking pastoral care.
