초록

The purpose of this paper is to understand the meaning of experience of suffering in order to guide counselors and clients who are at the risk of becoming lethargic due to the suffering that comes from sharing and expressing their experience openly in the course of Christian counseling sessions. This consideration helps oneself to confront the reality so that one can listen to one’s thoughts and feelings carefully. Therefore, when one accepts this notion, not only he or she can gain confidence but also can react differently toward suffering. This study investigates the cause of fears from counseling on the assumption that counselors can be interrupted while helping clients on accounts of fears from counseling to deal with the suffering of clients. There are two reasons why counselors feel the fears during counseling. First, the counselors can feel fear because they do not know the value of counseling accurately. Secondly, the counselors can feel fear when entering a state of torpor while counseling. Counselors who could not find a solution promptly can experience tremendous guilt and become lethargic as they pressure themselves, because they could not contribute to the field of counseling. In the second half of this paper, I analyze how toddlers play and the art of F. Bacon. They can be expressed as intermediate area that people can change their life through the method of “whole expression for suffering.” For the case of toddlers, they experience the struggle from the process of the separation from parents and their suffering can be expressed through how they play and interact with others and through this experience, their situation can change from subjective world to objective world. In conclusion, I stated that the “recognition of suffering” can change and influence how toddlers play and the relationship of the art of F. Bacon to the objective world will help us to understand how important the counseling is. I believe when recognition of suffering is admitted, one can believe that suffering is not part of oneself but it is indeed part of the existence of external world.
