애착외상의 관점에서 본 뭉크(Munch) 작품의 이해와 심리적 치유

초록

본 연구는 애착외상 관점에서 뭉크의 삶과 작품 속에 드러난 형태와 이미지를 살펴보고 미술행위를 통한 치유 요인을 상담심리 관점에서 살펴보았다. 이를 위해 문헌자료 조사 방법을 사용하여 작가의 생애와 결정적 사건, 중요 인물과의 관계를 작품 중심으로 분석하고, 작품의 이미지와 분위기, 색감과 형태 등을 탐구하였다. 뭉크의 삶과 작품을 애착이론의 틀로 살펴보는 것은 작가의 고통과 갈등의 핵심을 관통하는 심리적 기제를 이해하고 나아가 상담치료장면에서 애착외상으로 고통받는 내담자에게 작품 활용의 가능성을 모색하는데 의미가 있다. 연구의 결과 뭉크 작품은 애착외상으로 인해 생애 전반에 걸쳐 불안, 우울, 사랑의 실패, 죽음의 두려움이라는 심리적 고통을 경험하였지만 예술적 작업을 통해 고통의 직면과 수용, 트라우마의 의미 재구성, 창작을 통한 외상 후 성장에 도달하였다. 본 연구는 내담자들에게 뭉크의 생애와 작품을 통한 자기 이해가 상담 치료적 개입을 돕는 매체가 될 수 있다는 것을 제안한다는 점에서 의의를 찾을 수 있다.

Abstract

This study examined the Munch’s work from the perspective of attachment trauma, and examined the therapeutic factors through art activities. For this, using the literature data survey method, and analyzed the image of the work. Examining Munch’s life and work as a framework of attachment theory is meaningful in understanding the psychological mechanism that penetrates the artist’s pain and conflict, and further seeking the possibility of using the work to clients suffering from attachment trauma in counseling settings. As a result, Munch experienced psychological pain throughout his life due to attachment trauma, but reached post-traumatic growth through artistic work, acceptance, reconstruction of the meaning of trauma, and creation. This study is significant in that it suggests to clients that Munch’s life and work to help therapeutic intervention.
