목회상담학의 최근 연구동향: 「목회와 상담」 게재논문 분석(2001~2016)

본 연구의 목적은 목회상담학의 최근 연구동향을 파악하고, 앞으로 나아갈 연구방향을 제언하기 위함이다. 본 연구는 목회상담학의 잠재적인 연구영역을 발견하여 앞으로의 목회상담 연구를 위한 방향성을 제시함으로써, 한국교회와 한국사회를 위한 목회상담학 연구를 촉진시키는데 공헌하고자 했다. 이를 위하여 본 연구는 한국목회상담학회가 발행하는 「목회와 상담」에 2001년부터 2016년까지 게재된 연구논문 250편을 분석하였다. 연구자는 연구대상으로 수집된 각 논문내용을 제목, 초록, 키워드를 중심으로 분석하고, 연구주제, 연구대상, 연구접근방법으로 분류하였다. 그동안 「목회와 상담」의 게재논문에서 다루어진 연구주제를 분석하기 위하여, 연구자들은 250편의 논문을 17개의 하위범주로 분류했다. 가장 높은 비율을 차지한 연구주제는 “목회상담”과 “정신역동”이었다. 두 주제는 전체 논문에서 42.8%를 차지하였다. 연구대상에서 높은 비율을 차지하는 항목은 “목회상담”, “신앙공동체”, “신앙자원”이었고, 전체 논문에서 48.0%를 차지하였다. 마지막으로 본 연구는 목회상담연구에 사용된 연구접근방법을 분석하였는데, 가장 높은 비율을 차지한 접근 방법은 전체 논문의 40%를 차지한 심리학적 접근방법이었다. 그 다음 순위가 17.2%를 차지한 성서·신학적 접근방법이었다. 특별히 성서·신학적 접근방법에서는 여성주의 목회상담이론이 강세를 보이고 있었다. 이는 「목회와 상담」에 여성 목회상담학자들의 참여율이 증가하고 있는 추세와 상관있는 결과로 나타났다. 이 외에도 본 연구는 그동안 「목회와 상담」의 게재논문에서 주요하게 다루어진 학자들의 이름을 조사하고, 심리학, 신학 및 철학, 목회상담 및 종교심리학의 세 분야로 분류하였다. 마지막으로 본 연구는 이러한 연구 결과를 토대로 한국 목회상담 연구의 발전방향을 논의하였다. 목회상담의 패러다임의 확대는 목회상담에서 다루어지는 연구주제에도 확장을 요청한다. 따라서 본 연구는 앞으로의 목회상담 연구가 문화적 다양성을 추구하며, 지역교회와의 소통을 위해 보다 적극적 관심을 가져야 함을 제언하였다. 목회상담연구는 삶의 정황에서 출발하는 연구로서, 구체적 사례를 일반화 해 나가는 방향성을 지양하고 국소적으로 작은 것이 가진 의미를 발견하는데 의의가 있다. 따라서 목회상담의 연구대상은 보다 세분화되고 구체적일 필요가 있음을 논의하였다. 마지막으로 본 연구는 목회상담의 연구접근 방법이 이론 연구 외에 다양한 연구방법론의 시도가 필요함을 제언하였다.
Abstract
This study intends to explore the current research trends in the field of Pastoral Care and Counseling and examines potential research areas as well as neglected areas in the field. Therefore, we expect that it will facilitate further discussions of the study and practice of Pastoral Care and Counseling. The trends were identified by an intensive review of the articles published in the Korean Journal of Pastoral Care and Counseling (KJPCC) from 2001 to 2016. Overall, 250 research articles were identified and classified into three content categories: research topics, research objectives, and research approaches, which were derived from the previous studies. In terms of research topics, the 250 identified articles were coded into 17 categories. The most popular topics were “Pastoral Counseling” and “Psychodynamics.” These two topics accounted for 42.8% of the articles published in KJPCC. The study also found that “Pastoral Counseling,” “Faith Community,” and “Spiritual Resources” were the frequently preferred research objectives. These three objectives accounted for 48.0% of the articles published. Moreover, this study collected a list of scholars’ names cited in the published articles and categorized them into three areas that include Psychology, Theology & Philosophy, and Pastoral Counseling & Religious Psychology. In conclusion, based on the results of this study, we recommend a paradigm shift in Korean Pastoral Theology and identify a potential future research direction for KJPCC. This study outlined that the study and practice of Pastoral Care and Counseling must consider pursuing cultural diversity, communicating with local congregations, and focusing more on unique outcomes discovered from specific cases that includes the reality of life rather than general cases. For that, this study suggests that framework broader range of research methodologies and theoretical frameworks be used in the research of Pastoral Care and Counseling.
