한국인의 미래인식에 영향을 미치는 인지적 요인 연구: 과학기술과 환경문제 인식을 중심으로

초록

개인의 가치성향은 미래에 대한 전망과 예측에 영향을 미친다. 특히 과학기술과 환경문제와 같은 현대사회의 주요 쟁점에 대한 인식은 개인적･사회적 차원의 의사결정에 중요한 요소로 작용할 수 있다. 본 연구는 과학기술과 환경문제 인식을 포함한 인지적 요인이 한국인의 미래에 대한 전망에 미치는 영향에 대해 설문조사를 통해 실증적으로 분석하였다. 분석결과를 살펴보면, 응답자의 과학기술에 대한 긍정적 인식은 미래에 대한 낙관적 인식에 정(+)의 영향을 미치고 있는 것으로 나타났으나, 환경문제의 심각성 인지도는 미래에 대한 이미지와 통계적으로 유의미한 관계를 나타내지 않았다. 한편 현재 본인 삶에 대한 만족도와 행복도가 높을수록 미래에 대한 희망적인 이미지를 갖는 것으로 나타났으며, 타인에 대한 신뢰도가 높은 응답자일수록 미래를 낙관적으로 인식하고 있는 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 결과를 바탕으로 본 연구는 국민의 미래 인식에 긍정적인 영향을 미치기 위해서는 과학기술의 부정적 인식을 줄이고 그 혜택의 공정한 분배를 위한 정책적 노력을 기울일 필요가 있으며, 공정성 확보와 사회적 취약계층 지원으로 국민의 만족도 및 사회신뢰를 높일 필요가 있음을 제안한다. 본 연구는 개인적･사회적 요소들이 한국인의 미래에 대한 전망에 미치는 영향에 대해 분석하여, 실효성과 수용성 높은 미래 정책 방향을 설정하는데 필요한 기초 자료를 제공한다는 점에서 의미가 있다.

Abstract

Individual value predisposition influences one’s prospects and predictions for the future. In particular, an awareness of major problems in modern society, such as science and technology and environmental issues, can act as an important factor in personal and social decision-making. This study empirically analyzes the effects of cognitive factors, including awareness of science and technology and environmental issues, on the outlook for the future of Koreans as measured through the Future Value Survey. The results show that respondents’ positive perception of science and technology had a positive (+) effect on their optimistic perception of the future; however, respondents’ perception of the seriousness of environmental problems did not have a significant impact on the image of the future. Also, higher level of self-reported satisfaction and happiness with current life were associated with respondents’ optimistic perception of the future. Finally, respondents’ trust level in others was significantly associated with their optimistic view of the future. To make a positive impact on the public’s perception of the future, it is necessary to reduce the negative perception of science and technology and make policy efforts for the fair distribution of its benefits. Also, it is necessary to increase public satisfaction and social trust by securing fairness and supporting the socially vulnerable. This study analyzes the effects of personal and social factors on Koreans’ future prospects and provides basic data necessary to set effective and acceptable future policy directions.
