Abstract
Victims of sexual offense suffer from severe psychological, physical and social problems along with traumatic experiences. This is the reason why various professionals in counseling, psychotherapy, medicine, rehabilitation, social work, police and law enforcement work together in protecting and supporting victims of sexual crimes. This study aims to obtain practical implications for activating the interprofessional collaboration system. A survey was conducted for counselling professionals and police officers employed in 34 Sunflower Centers in which interprofessional collaborations are actually in operation. A total of 230 survey was utilized for data analysis. Results showed perceptions on need and strengths for the collaboration system were relatively positive among the respondents. The respondents' perceptions on sexual offender were not severely negative. However, police officers showed severer negative attitudes and opinions than those of counselling professionals of social workers, psychologist, counselors. Police officers further showed a higher level of preference of punitive measure in policy responses against sexual crimes, such as public notification, electronic anklet, chemical castration policies. Based on those differences, implications for activating the interprofessional collaboration system are presented.
