초록

The purpose of this paper is to explore crime-related social policies that have significant impacts on the lives of juveniles in Britain. Representative youth crime policies that have been implemented since the beginning of the Labour government in 1997 are chosen, and the reason for and the process of their implementation are assessed thoroughly. The results indicate that the policies have produced unexpected results that have subjected the lives of youths to an extended degree of control and surveillance without reaping the intended benefits. Furthermore, the policies are found to be ineffective in reducing the overall crime rates or controlling the criminal behaviour of young people. This research concludes by suggesting viable revision measures to improve current policies.
