뉴스 빅데이터 분석을 통한 한-EU 정치협력 인식 연구: 2011-2020년 국내 언론 기사를 중심으로

2010년 한-EU는 양자 간의 관계를 전략적 동반자 관계로 격상시키며반세기 만에 양자 협력의 역사적 이정표에 도달하였다. 이처럼 다방면에서 심화되고 있는 양자 간 포괄적 협력은 경제통상 분야 뿐만 아니라 정치, 외교 및 안보 이슈까지 질적·양적 측면에서 발전하고 있다고 평가된다. 이러한 맥락에서 본 고는 한-EU 전략적 동반자 관계 격상 직후인2011년부터 2020년 사이, 지난 10년간 우리나라 언론사를 통해 생산·송출된 한-EU 정치 관계 관련 뉴스 기사를 바탕으로 빅데이터 분석기법을통해 이에 대한 인식을 고찰하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 또한 지난 10년간의 기사를 2년 단위로 구분한 뒤, 텍스트마이닝과 의미연결망 분석을 활용해 각 기간별 도출된 연구결과를 비교함으로써 국내의 한-EU 정치 관계에 대한 인식과 그 변화과정을 살펴보았다. 지난 10년간의 뉴스 기사를바탕으로 한 키워드 분석과 의미연결망 분석 결과, ‘협력’이라는 키워드를중심으로 ‘한국’, ‘유럽’, ‘정상’이라는 연관어와의 관계에서 높은 연결중심성을 나타내었다. 또한 2년의 기간으로 구분하여 살펴본 상위키워드 변화과정 고찰을 통해 각 기간별 한-EU 협력의 주요 의제가 경제, 정치, 보건, 환경, 한반도 평화 등 전통적, 비전통적 분야에서의 포괄적 협력의 형태로 전개되고 있음을 발견하였다. 본 고는 이러한 연구결과를 바탕으로양자 간 향후 지속 가능한 정치협력에 대한 함의와 시사점 또한 도출하였다.

Abstract

Korea and the EU upgraded their bilateral relationship to a strategic partnership in 2010, reaching a historic milestone in bilateral cooperation in just half a century. It is evaluated that the comprehensive cooperation between the two parties, deepening in various fields, is developing in qualitative and quantitative aspects, including political, diplomatic and security issues. In this context, this paper examines perceptions on news articles related to Korea-EU political relations produced and transmitted through Korean media outlets for the 10 years—between 2011 and 2020 —immediately after the upgrade of the Korea-EU strategic partnership. In addition, after division of news articles of the past 10 years into two-year periods, perceptions of Korea-EU political relations in Korea and the process of their change are examined by employing text mining and semantic network analysis and comparing the research outcomes. As a result of keyword analysis and semantic network analysis based on news articles from the past 10 years, the keyword “cooperation” showed a high degree centrality in relation to the related words “Korea”, “Europe”, and “summit”. In addition, through a review of the high-level keywords divided into two-year periods, the major agendas of Korea-EU cooperation in each period are developed in the form of comprehensive cooperation in traditional and non-traditional fields such as economy, politics, health, environment, peace, and the Korean Peninsula. This paper finally drew future implications for sustainable political cooperation between the two parties.
