본 연구는 60년대 영국 아방가르드 건축가 그룹이었던 아키그램의 도시 기획을 통해 인간과 도시의 관계를 살펴보았다. 산업 혁명 이후 도시는 노동자 거주지의 경우처럼 인간을 통제하는 기능적 구조로 다뤄지거나, 만국박람회로 등장한 타자성이 결합된 코스모폴리탄의 이미지 아래발전의 이상을 반영한 장소로 여겨졌다. 이는 미래주의처럼 도시를 매체로 새로운 사회적 변화를 제안할 수 있는 시도로 이어졌고, 도시 기획은삶에 대한 관점의 변화를 관찰할 수 있는 연구 대상이 되었다. 아키그램은 20세기 전반 장소를 점유하고 삶을 규정하는 도시의 개념이 아니라, 가변성, 유동성, 유목주의적 관점을 토대로 동시대의 사회적 관계에 대한생각이 투영된 유토피아를 제시했고, 모더니티 건축에 대한 반대 명제로작용하며 포스트모더니즘 건축에 영향을 끼쳤다.
Abstract
This study sheds light on the relationship between humans and cities through urban planning led by Archigram, a group of British avant-garde architects in the 1960s. After the Industrial Revolution, cities were treated as functional structures to control humans, as in the case of workers' residences, or as places that reflected the ideal of development under the image of cosmopolitans combined with otherness that appeared at the World's Fair. This led to an attempt to propose a new social transformation using the city as a medium like Futurism, and urban planning became a research subject to observe the change in perspective on life. Archigram presented a utopia in which ideas about contemporary social relations are projected based on variableness, fluidity, and nomadism, rather than the concept of a city occupying a place and defining life in the first half of the 20th century and influenced post-modern architecture.
