Quantum Technology and South Korea’sDefense Innovation 4.0

Abstract

QT(Quantum Technology) is recognized as the game changer technology of the fu-ture battlefield. And defense innovation 4.0 is Korea's science and technology-based defense reform vision and policy. The study raises a problem with the fact that Defense Innovation 4.0 does not mention QT at all. The purpose of this study was to review the reflection of QT on defense innovation 4.0. To this end, we first analyzed the impact of QT on Korean defense by evaluating the impact of QT on future battlefield functions, Korean 3 Axis System, and Manned Unmanned Combined Combat System. In addition, Korea's national and defense strategies for QT were evaluated to evaluate strategic dis-cussions on QT. As a result of the evaluation, it was found that QT should be reflected in Defense Innovation 4.0. However, considering the degree of technological maturity and awareness, it is judged that Amendment No. 1 is appropriate to reflect only the R&D sector first and then gradually develop it rather than reflecting it in all fields of Defense Innovation 4.0.
