한국 제조업 시장의 중국 수입이 국내 기업들의 진입과 퇴출에 미친 영향

본 연구는 2006년부터 2012년까지 우리나라의 제조업 시장의 대중국 수입정도와국내기업들의 동학과의 관계를 실증분석했다. 통계청의 「기업활동조사」 자료를 활용하여 국내 기업들의 시장 진입률과 퇴출률을 분석했고, 관세청의 산업별 중국 수입액을주요 설명변수로 사용하였다. 그 결과, 중국으로부터의 국내 수입액이 증가함에 따라국내 기업들의 시장진입률은 감소하였고, 퇴출률에 대해서는 큰 영향이 없는 것으로나타났다. 또한 기술수준별로 산업을 나누어 살펴본 결과, 고기술산업 보다는 중기술산업에서, 중기술 산업보다는 저기술 산업에서 이러한 경향이 더 큰 것으로 나타났다. 해당 결과가 시사하는 바는 제조업 시장의 대중국 수입개방이 심해질수록 저기술산업의 국내 기업 진입현상이 매우 악화되고 있다는 점이다.
Abstract
This paper examined the market entry and exit rates of Korean firms and import penetration rates of Chinese products from 2006 to 2012. It was found that as the import penetration rates into the market increase, firms’ market entry rates decrease, while the exit rates are not affected. In addition, the main results were clearer in industries with lower technology. This implies that as Korean manufacturing sectors are becoming increasingly open to Chinese products, firms in low-technology industries become unable to enter the market.
