This study was designed to seek domestic meditation and brain-related research trends, issues, and how to improve by analyzing the trends by research year, research target, research topics, research methods of a total of 45 papers published in the Korean thesis and journal from January 2000 till December 2012. As a result of analysis on the study trends, the meditation and brain-related researches have been made in such sectors as education, psychology, medicine, religion, sports, art, etc., but most of the research is concentrated in the field of education, especially the research on the brain education can be seen to be more actively than brain science. In addition, most of the meditation and the brain related papers were studied using quantitative research methods, whose analysis techniques to verify the difference in effect can be seen to have been mainly formed. Accordingly, in this study, in order to establish academic system on the meditation and brain the study in microscopic terms by research sector is required, and in order to clearly clarify the necessity for the study in physiological terms to be activated and the effect relationship between meditation and brain the necessity of study is emphasized whether the change between meditation and brain has been caused by sharing with the procedure of meditation and brain mechanism, or by uncontrolled variables. On the other hand the integrated study mixed with quantitative and qualitative research methods is suggested to be continuously made.
