청유 반응에 영향을 미치는 요인에 관한 한일대조연구 : 사회적 거리와 이익의 유무에 초점을 두어

본고에서는 언어행동에 영향을 미치는 요인에 대해 알아보기 위해 한국인과 일본인남녀 대학생을 대상으로 청유에 대한 반응을 조사하였다. 조사대상이 되는 요인은 행동이 가져다주는 이익의 유무와 화자 간의 사회적 거리이다. 사회적 거리는 친한 관계(親), 친하지 않지만 가까워 질 수 있는 관계(疎에서 親으로 변화 가능), 친하지 않고 가까워질 가능성도 없는 관계(疎)로 설정을 하였고, 이익의 유무는 청유내용이 피청유자에게 이익이 되는 것과 이익이 되지 않는 것으로 나누어 장면 설정을 하였다. 조사결과 사회적 거리와 이익의 유무 모두 한일 남녀의 언어행동에 영향을 미친다는 것을 알 수 있었다. 특히 친한 관계의 경우에는 이익의 유무에 관계없이 한일 남녀 모두 상대의 ‘적극적 욕구’를 충족시키면서 서로의 관계를 더욱더 친밀하게 유지를 하려는 경향이 엿보였다. 반면, 疎의 관계에서는 상대의 ‘적극적 욕구’ 충족보다는 피험자자신의 ‘소극적 욕구’를 보존하려는 경향이 강하며, 이는 이익이 없는 경우에 더욱 두드러진다는 것을 알 수 있었다.
Abstract
This article aimed to investigate the responses to the inviting act in the subjects with the male and female university students in Korea and Japan to understand the factors to affect the speech behaviors. The subject factors were the social distance between the speakers and whether to have the benefit from this. Social distance was defined as the close relationship, not close but to have the potential to be closed, or not close nor potential to be closed. The setting of the scene was established by the case that the contents of inviting act could be beneficial to the invitee, or the case that could not. Upon the investigation results, both social distance and the benefit were found to affect the speech behaviors in both Korean and Japanese students. Especially in case of close relationship, both Korean and Japanese students showed the tendency to maintain the relationship more closely upon satisfying the other’s ‘positive face’ regardless of the benefits. On the other hand, the tendency to keep the invitee’s own ‘negative face’ was found rather than to satisfy with the invitor’s ‘positive face,’ in no close relationship, which was highlighted more in case of no benefit.
