본 연구는 ESG 경영의 딜레마 상황을 덕 윤리를 통해 해결하기 위한 시도이다. 이러한 시도는 ESG 경영의 등장 배경이 도덕적 해이라는 점에서 의미가 있다고 본다. 필자는 ESG 경영의 딜레마 상황을 해결하기 위한 첫 단계로 액설로드의 협력적 진화론을 검토한다. 이는 ESG 경영 상황이 게임이론의 죄수의 딜레마 구조와 같다는 점에 착안한 것이다. 이어서 협력적 진화론과 아리스토텔레스의 친애의 덕을 응용해 ESG 경영에 상호 존중의 덕이 필요함을 논증한다. 마지막으로 롤즈의 반성적 평형 개념과 ESG 경영을 활용해 덕 공동체의 가능성을모색한다.
Abstract
This study is an attempt to resolve the dilemma of ESG management through virtue ethics. This attempt is considered meaningful in that the background for the emergence of ESG management is moral hazard. I examine Axelrod's cooperative evolution theory as a first step to solving the dilemma of ESG management. This is based on the fact that the ESG management situation is similar to the prisoner's dilemma structure in game theory. Next, I apply cooperative evolution theory and Aristotle's virtue of friendship to argue that the virtue of mutual respect is necessary for ESG management. In this process, we use Rawls's concept of reflective equilibrium to explain that the virtue of mutual respect can integrate communities, businesses, and individuals.
