페루 농촌 사회의 변동과 안데스 농민 공동체의 변화: 유토피아적 공동체주의를 넘어

초록

본 연구는 한국사회의 오리엔탈리즘적 라틴아메리카 읽기에 대한 비판적 연구의연장선상에서, 안데스 지역을 이해하는 관점을 비판적으로 검토하고자 한다. 이를위해 본 연구는 인류학자 오린 스탄(Orin Starn)의 ‘안데스주의(Andeanism)’ 개념을 소개하고 이를 통해 외부 관찰자가 보고자 하는 안데스 사회와 실제 현실 속의 안데스 농민 공동체의 간극을 분석하고자 한다. 안데스주의는 안데스 지역과그 곳에 사는 사람들이 여전히 잉카 제국 시기의 호혜적 관계에 근거한 공동체주의를 유지하고 있다고 바라보는 인식을 의미한다. 이러한 몰역사적, 몰장소적인식은 안데스 지역과 외부 지역을 이분화하고 안데스 지역을 잉카의 과거와 안데스 고산이라는 특정장소와 고정해서 인식하고 타자화한다는 점에서 사이드(Said)가 오리엔탈리즘에서 드러낸 식민주의적 인식 틀과 유사한 성격을 갖는다고 볼 수 있다. 이러한 안데스주의적 인식 틀은 스페인 식민 지배 시기 이후 이사회가 계속해서 외부 세계와 교류하는 과정에서 끊임없이 변화해왔음에도 불구하고 여전히 이 사회를 특정 시기와 장소에 고정해서 인식하고 이를 과장 혹은왜곡해서 재현하고 있다는 점에서 외부 관찰자의 오리엔탈리즘적 인식 틀과 유사한 성격을 가진다. 본 연구는 스탄의 안데스주의 개념에 착안해 변동하는 페루안데스 농촌 사회의 농민 공동체의 변화 양상을 분석하고자 한다. 외부 사회와끊임없이 교류하는 과정에서 내외부적 변화를 겪고 있는 농민 공동체의 현실에대한 분석을 통해 오리엔탈리즘적 안데스 사회 읽기와 현실 간의 간극을 좁혀보고자 한다.

Abstract

Engaging in a critical study of the Orientalist interpretation of Latin America in Korean society, this research aims to examine the perspective of understanding the Andean region. To achieve this, the study introduces anthropologist Orin Starn's concept of 'Andeanism' and analyzes the discrepancy between how an outside observer perceives Andean society and the actual reality of the Andean peasant community. Andeanism refers to the perception that the Andean region and its inhabitants still maintain the communitarianism of the Inca Empire, which is based on reciprocal relationships. This perception, which is ahistorical and fixed to a specific place, shares similarities with the colonial cognitive framework described by Said in Orientalism. It dichotomizes the Andean region from the outer region and otherizes the Andean region by associating it solely with the Inca past and the specific place of the Andean highlands. This study aims to analyze the changing patterns of peasant communities in rural Andean society in Peru, using Starn's concept of Andeanism. By examining the reality of peasant communities undergoing internal and external changes through constant interaction with the outside society, the study aims to bridge the gap between the Orientalist interpretation of Andean society and reality
