Abstract
· Research topics: The purpose of this study was to empirically verify how the entrepreneurial competencies (problem-solving capabilities, interpersonal capabilities, idea generation capabilities, and management knowledge) of college students who took the entrepreneurship course affect entrepreneurship (innovation, initiative, risk-taking). · Research background: Entrepreneurship competency is acting as an important factor in the success of entrepreneurship, and entrepreneurship is recognized as an important driver of economic growth and innovation, so its importance is emphasized. In particular, the role of entrepreneurship education for college students is very important in developing these entrepreneurial competencies, and through this, cultivating entrepreneurship can contribute to career development and national economic development through individual capacity building. Therefore, this study attempted to contribute to the development of educational programs and policies that can improve the entrepreneurship of college students by analyzing how the entrepreneurial competencies of college students who took the entrepreneurship course affect innovation, initiative, and risk-taking, which are major components of entrepreneurship. · Differences from prior research: Prior research mainly focused on SMEs and analyzed the relationship between entrepreneurial competence and entrepreneurship of adults, and mainly focused on research related to entrepreneurship of adults. In addition, most studies on college students analyze the relationship between entrepreneurship and willingness to start a business. However, since most students taking entrepreneurship education do not plan to start a business right away, it may be problematic to analyze only the relationship between entrepreneurship and willingness to start a business. This study provided specific guidelines for the direction of educational programs to effectively strengthen the entrepreneurship of college students that can act as an important factor for future career development by empirically analyzing the effect of college students' entrepreneurial competence on entrepreneurship through various factors. · Research method: This study conducted a survey of 552 university students who took the entrepreneurship course and verified the relationship between entrepreneurial competence and entrepreneurship through multiple regression analysis. · Research results: First, problem-solving ability had a positive effect on innovation, initiative, and risk-taking. Second, interpersonal relationship ability had a significant effect on initiative, but not statistically significant effect on innovation and risk-taking. Third, the ability to derive ideas had a positive effect on innovation and risk-taking, but not on initiative. Fourth, management knowledge had a positive effect on initiative and risk-taking, but not statistically significant effect on innovation. · Contribution points and expected effects: This study suggests that the entrepreneurship education program of college students should be designed to foster creative and innovative thinking, and to develop the ability for students to actively respond to challenges and take risks. This is expected to be an important criterion for establishing strategies to improve the quality of entrepreneurship education.
