Abstract

This research analyzed the 'zero-tolerance' policy in the socio-political context of school violence. It explored the specific elements of this policy, particularly the disciplinary measures against offenders and their impact on college admissions. The study used critical discourse analysis to investigate how these policies are implemented in the U.S. and U.K., highlighting their unique aspects and differences. It emphasized the gap between policy text and reality and the need for a shared understanding in policy discourse. The findings provide valuable insights for improving South Korea's approach to school violence.
