王守仁과 曺植의 知行合一의 실천적 성격연구

Abstract

The purpose of this paper is to study the practical character of the unity of knowledge and practice between Wang, Soo-In(陽明 王守仁, 1472~1528) and Jo, Sik(南冥 曺植, 1501~1572). Firstly, this paper shows a common elements in a discipline way of the concept of the extreme reflection between Wang, Soo-In and Jo, Sik. The extreme reflection means that the discipline way that controls oneself strictly to preserve conscience and resist private greed. The various and individual desires can be inclined to break the operation of the conscience. The extreme reflection of Wang, Soo-In was a way of realizing the knowledge of conscience, and the extreme reflection of Jo, Sik was a way of defeating the greed and preserving the divine principle. Wang, Soo-In attempted to achieve the extreme knowledge of conscience through the method of the extreme reflection in the process of realizing the knowledge of conscience, the main structure of mind. Jo, Sik suggested a method of studying 'the loyalty of reverence'. The loyalty of reverence of the unity of knowledge and practice can be achieved by the reverence through the extreme reflection from reverence by training into mindfor 'the control human greed and seeking of divine principles'. Both of Wang, Soo-In and Jo, Sik had suggested the extreme reflection as a way to achieve the ultimate goal of Confucianism. And it shows the common point of contact between the Neo-Confucianism and the Yang Myung-knowledge. In addition, their studies of both can lead to a practical and existential direction. Although Wang, Soo-In and Jo, Sik have different backgrounds of study such as the Yang Myung-knowledg and Neo-Confucianism, they have commonalities of the extreme reflection. These commonalities not only contribute to the cultivation of the human mind, but also inspect and find out and remove the elements that are about to flow into the evil. They were worth comparing as the value of humanities in the meaning of the extreme reflection between Wang, Soo-In and Jo, Sik in their thoughts.
