이 글은 1968년 프랑스 5월혁명 당시 학생투쟁에 주목한다. 그들의 투쟁 형식과 수단은 구좌파의 진부한 정치적 실천들과 완전히 단절했다. 프랑스공산당과 노동총연맹 등의 구좌파는 지도부, 전달 벨트, 기층으로 이루어진 명령-복종 구조에 전제한 채 자신들의 지도 아래 조직되는 투쟁만이 올바르다는 낡은 신념에 빠져 있었다. 따라서 5월혁명에서 보여준 학생들의 폭력, 점거, 자율적 조직화 등은 구좌파로서는 전혀 이해할 수 없는 행동이었다. 5월혁명 당시 구좌파는 학생들의 투쟁이 비도덕적이며 유치한 짓이라고 비난하는 데 혈안이 됐다. 그것은 학생들이 구좌파의 권위를 무시하고 그들의 헤게모니를 인정하지 않는 것에 대한 구차한 반응에 불과했다. 구좌파는 투쟁이 자신들의 지도 아래 통제되어야만 그 정당성이 확보될 수 있다고 생각했다. 하지만 학생들은 새로운 투쟁의 형식과 수단으로 구좌파와 철저히 결별했다. 학생들이 보여준 폭력, 점거, 자율적 조직화는 그러한 단절의 선명한 표현이었다. 격렬한 가두 투쟁은 일차적으로 자기방어의 수단이었지만 폭력은 프랑스 사회의 억압적 구조를 폭로하면서 이후 점거운동이 가능할 수 있는 기반으로 작용했다. 대학의 점거는 공간에 작동하는 권위적이고 억압적인 기존의 명령 체계를 파괴하고 점거 주체들에 의한 자율적인 자치(공간의 재전유)를 실험했다. 아울러 행동위원회(자율적 조직)는 대표와 전위 없이도 대중에 의한 혁명이 가능함을 보여주었다.
Abstract
THIS article focuses on French May Revolution in 1968. The forms and means of french student struggles entirely broke off the political practices of old-left. Obviously violence, occupation and autonomous organizations were the expression of this rupture. The intensive street fighting(violence) was not only the mean of self-defense but also the moments of exposure of repressive structures, after this, functioned as a base of occupation movements. Occupation movements had destructed the authoritarian and oppressive command-system and experimented autonomous self-management (reappropriation of space) by occupiers. In addition to this struggles, action committees(autonomous organization) had showed up the possibility of revolutionary actions without the representation and vanguard.
