본고는 루이 알튀세르 정치철학에서 역사 개념의 동요를 생전 출간 저서 중에서는 “자본”을 읽자, 사후 출간 유고집 중에서는 역사에 관한 글들을 중심으로 분석한다. 알튀세르에게서 역사 개념은 구조와 정세 또는 사건 사이에서 동요하는데(1절), 본고는 이를 알튀세르에게서의 정세 개념을 중심으로 간단히 다룬다(2절). 이후 본고는 이러한 논의를 배경으로 취하면서 “자본”을 읽자와 역사에 관한 글들에서 역사 개념이 구조와 정세 또는 사건 사이에서 동요하는 바를 분석한다. 본고는 “자본”을 읽자의 경우 구조인과성 개념과 다수의 이질적인 역사적 시간성 관념, 그리고 역사주의(와 경험주의) 비판과 인식대상과 현실대상 간 구별에 주목해이 동요를 분석하고(3절), 역사에 관한 글들의 경우 (문학사에 관한 첫 번째 부분과 역사에 관한 일곱 가지 단편들로 구성된 두 번째 부분은 제외하고) 이 유고집 속또 다른 독립적인 한 권의 책 제국주의에 관하여가 구성하는 세 번째 부분을 집중적으로 독해하면서 이 동요를 분석한다(4절). 이후 본고는 “자본”을 읽자와 역사에 관한 글들에서 확인된 알튀세르 정치철학에서 역사 개념의 동요를 이해 가능하게 만드는 하나의 시도로서 알튀세르에게서 프롤레타리아 독재론과 우발성의 유물론을 단락시키는 G. M. 고슈가리언의 주석들을 독해한다(5절). 결론에서 본고는, 그래서 오늘날 우리는 알튀세르를 어떻게 읽어야 하는지에 대한 가설적 답변을 제출한다(6절).
Abstract
This article analyzes a vacillation in Louis Althusser’s concept of history, focusing on Lire Le Capital for works published during his lifetime and on Écrits sur l’Histoire for posthumous works. For Althusser, the concept of history vacillates between structure and conjuncture or event(first chapter). So this article deals with the concept of conjuncture in the philosophy of Althusser(second chapter). Then, taking this discussion as the background of our analysis, it examines the vacillation of the concept of history between structure and conjuncture or event respectively in Lire Le Capital and Écrits sur l’Histoire. In the case of Lire Le Capital, it analyzes this vacillation by paying particular attention to the concept of structural causality and the idea of multiple and heterogeneous historical time, as well as the critique of historicism and empiricism and the distinction between the object of thought and the real object(third chapter). In the case of Écrits sur l’Histoire, it analyzes the vacillation by meticulously reading (except its first part on the history of literature and its second part on the seven fragments on history) its third part on Livre sur l’Impérialisme(fourth chapter). Finally, it discusses the exegeses of G. M. Goshgarian, which short-circuit the idea of the dictatorship of the proletariat and the aleatory materialism of Althusser, as part of an attempt to understand this vacillation(fifth chapter). In conclusion, it proposes a hypothetical answer on how to read Althusser today(sixth chapter).
