책임의 연대 : ‘#미투’ 이후의 과제

Abstract

First half of 2018, women in Korean society broke the silence and started to speak out “Me Too”. Women disclosing about sexual assault itself is not new. Nonetheless, this chain of exposures that began in 2018 is regarded as a phenomenon of ‘excess of interpretation’. In order to understand this phenomenon, this paper aims to look into the periodical background that made the series of ‘Me Too’ possible and the topography that it is positioned in. Furthermore, based on those observations I would like to examine what challenges the recent ‘Me Too’ case presents to the feminist theory as well as in the field of practice. Iris Marion Young in Responsibility for Justice suggests future-oriented political solidarity for those who feels responsible for the injustice, in order to solve the ‘structural injustice’ and the problem of oppression. With reference to her argument on justice and political responsibility, this paper attempts to contemplate what we can do ‘together’ with the ‘Me Too’ speakers, who made us face their accusation of ‘structural injustice’. Here, Iris Young’s argument on ‘structural injustice’ and theory on justice, provides two possibilities in answering to the challenges set forth by ‘Me Too’. First, this discussion demonstrates that the issue on justice is not to distribute a fixed amount of social rights and opportunity, but that it is a joint issue that resolves structural oppression by relationship. This allows the breaking out of ‘competitive victimhood’ between the structural victims, and allows the communal reflection of the issue of violence within the structural relationship. Second, it suggests the future-oriented ‘politics of camaraderie’ by emphasizing the solidarity of responsibility on structural injustice. This allows hopes for the possibility of solidarity of ‘feminisms’ that has different stance and starting point, and joint-practice.
