이 연구는 20-30대 청년당원을 대상으로 실시한 설문조사 자료를 활용해 젠더정책과 젠더외정책에 대한 선호에 있어 근대적 성차의 존재 여부를 경험적으로 탐색했다. 분석결과, 8개의 젠더정책과 10개의 젠더외정책에서 여성당원이 남성보다 진보적인 선호를 보였고, 사형제 폐지를 제외하나 모든 정책에 대해서 성차가 통계적으로 유의미한 것으로 나타났다. 또한 다른 변수들을 통제한 상태에서도 성별이 정책선호에 미치는 통계적 유의미성이 확인되었고, 여성이 남성보다 진보적인 정책선호를 지지하는 경향을 갖고 있는 것으로 나타났다. 성별 외에도 개인의 정치성향과 소속정당 또한 정책선호에 영향을 미치는 중요한 변수인 것으로 나타났다. 청년당원에 제한된 분석이기는 하나 청년 여성당원이 남성보다 진보적이라는 근대적 성차의 존재를 확인할 수 있었으며, 이는 향후 정당정치 연구에 있어 성별과 성차에 주목할 필요성을 제시해준다.
Abstract
This paper analyzes whether the modern gender gap on policy preferences in youth party members is or not using survey data. I find that women have a higher mean value than men in 8 gender policies and 10 other policies and there is the statistical significance between men and women in all policies except one. And women continue to express significantly more progressive policy preferences than men when other variables are controlled. Variables like political identity and political parties also affect policy preferences and the more liberal they are, the more progressive policy preferences they have. While the student variable is statistically significant only in the female group, individual income, age, and marriage variables have statistical significance in the male group. Although this analysis is limited to youth party members, the findings show that there is a modern gender gap that women are more progressive than men and suggest the need to pay attention to gender and gender gap in political research.
