최근 국내 무선 단말기 사용자의 수가 3천만 명을 넘어서고 있는 상황이고, 무선 데이터 통신의 증가는 보안이라는요소를 필요로 하게 되었다. 이러한 보안을 해결하는 방법으로 무선 PKI를 적용할 수 있다. 인증서는 공개키의 소유자를 나타내는 사용자 인증 정보이고, 비밀키는 인증서의 소유자만 전자서명을 생성할 수 있는 도구이다. WAP 및GSM 등에서는 사용자가 단말기를 변경하는 경우에 사용자의 비밀키 및 인증서를 재사용하는 방법은 WIM, USIM 등의 스마트 카드를 사용하는 것으로 정의하고 있다. 본 논문에서는 WIM, USIM 등의 스마트카드를 사용하지 않고도 인증서와 비밀키를 재사용할 수 있는 무선 사용자 인증서 및 키 로밍 프로토콜을 제안한다. 제안하는 프로토콜을사용하는 사용자는 기존의 무선 PKI 모듈을 탑재한 단말기로 무선 사용자 인증서 및 키 로밍 서비스를 제공 받을 수있다. 이는 사용자의 경제적 부담이 줄어들어 무선 PKI가 활성화되는데 기여할 것이다.
Abstract
Considering the fact that the number of the mobile phone subscribers is recently increasing over thirty million peoples, a remarkable increase of wireless data communication requires security as essential component. PKI can be implemented as the ultimate solution for the security issues. In PKI, certificate is information of user authentication that identifies an owner of public key, and also private key is a tool only for certificate owner to generate digital signature. The method of reusing a private key and certificate of user is defined as using smart card such as WIM and USIM in case that an user changes a mobile phone under WAP and GSM. This paper presents a protocol of wireless certificate and key roaming that enables private key and certificate to reuse without using smart card such as WIM and USIM. The user using the proposed protocol is able to use wireless certificate and key roaming service by a mobile device implemented current wireless PKI module. It will contribute to activate wireless PKI market because of decreasing economic cost of the users.
