FMC (Fixed Mobile Convergence) 네트워크는 유선 및 무선 네트워크를 통합하여 사용자에게 접속 네트워크의 종류에 상관없이 일관되고 끈김 없는 서비스를 제공하기 위한 기술이다. FMC 네트워크를 구성하는 Wi-Fi, WLAN, 2G/3G와 같은 무선 네트워크 기술은 사용자에게 Global Mobility와 Seamless IP 서비스를 지원하는 핵심 기술이다. 그러나 각각의 무선 네트워크 기술에서는 서로 다른 사용자 인증 및 보안 기술이 존재한다. 이를 위해 3GPP에서는 3G 이동 네트워크 망과 WLAN 망의 연동 환경에서 Vertical 핸드오버 인증을 위한 USIM 기반의 EAP-AKA 연동 인증 메커니즘을 제안하고 있다. 그러나 기존의 EAP-AKA 방식에서는 핸드오버 인증 지연, MITM 공격, 부인 방지 측면에서 취약성이 존재한다. 본 논문에서는 FMC의 3G-WLAN 무선 네트워크 연동 환경에서 기존 EAP-AKA 메커니즘의 취약성을 개선하는 USIM 기반의 네트워크 접속 인증 연동 기술에 대해 살펴보고, 향후 FMC 네트워크를 위한 무선 네트워크 환경에서의 보안 기술 방향에 대해서 알아본다.
Abstract
FMC (Fixed Mobile Convergence) network combines wired and wireless network technology and provides seamless network services to the subscriber without reference to any type of access networks. Above all, the wireless network techniques such as Wi-Fi, WLAN, and 2G/3G are most important techniques to providing global roaming and seamless IP service in FMC network. But these wireless techniques have different authentication and security mechanism. To unify these different type of authentication techniques, 3GPP proposes USIM-based EAP-AKA authentication protocol that is applied to 3G and WLAN inter-working network. But existing EAP-AKA protocol has some security vulnerabilities such as delay of handover authentication, Man-In-The-Middle attack, and protection of repudiation. In this paper, we analyze the various type of EAP-AKA protocols that is improving the problems of existing EAP-AKA protocol. And then, we derive the direction of security techniques in wireless network of future FMC network.
