Abstract
This paper systematically reviews the research achievements of Chinese academia on Korean society since 1992 using bibliometric methods. Over the past three decades, research on Korean society in China has gradually evolved from an initial exploratory stage to a multidisciplinary collaborative inquiry. The primary focus of the research has been appropriately adjusted in response to the changing historical context, while publication trends have undergone several fluctuations, exhibiting distinct phases. The evolution of these research trends is closely linked to the transformation of Korean society, the development of Sino-Korean relations, and China's practical development needs. The research content is mainly concentrated on four key themes: 1) Social governance and policy exploration 2) The construction of cultural and value systems 3)Cross-national comparisons and cultural interactions 4) The historical experience of modernization and social change. These studies not only reflect Chinese academia’s interest in Korea’s governance and cultural models but also provide important references for understanding Korea’s development path in the context of globalization. Furthermore, they hold both academic and practical significance. However, existing research still has certain limitations. The primary challenges include the singularity of theoretical approaches, insufficient interdisciplinary integration, and constraints imposed by geopolitical tensions and changes in the international environment. In terms of research output, studies on Korean society in Chinese academia are significantly fewer compared to other areas of Korean Studies. Therefore, future research should focus on strengthening theoretical frameworks, expanding multidisciplinary perspectives, and integrating data-driven methodologies to deepen Sino-Korean academic exchanges. By doing so, academic support and practical guidance can be provided to optimize social policies.
