Abstract

The needs of consumers with infotainment service in smart car are going complex and diverse rapidly. We faced that the consumer expectations in the smart car infotainment services more closely aligned to the level of change of telecommunications industry rather than traditional technologies in the automotive industry. Smart car infotainment devices are required for connection to external network (connected service) and seamless service usability in getting in and out of vehicle. So we have to consider that the smart car to be connected to the smart phone which has wireless connection and being always with driver. In this paper, we show that vehicle device stand-alone service is not enough to satisfy recent consumers need to the smart car so introduce the smart car's connectivity technologies to the smart phone as one of a good alternative. In this point of view, we introduce different types of connectivity technologies between smart car and smart phone and also review each car maker's recent activities for the connectivity technologies and standardization activities of smart car connectivity technologies.
