Abstract
As current Internet experiences several problems on traffic management, data analysis, and service provision due to rapidly increasing number of mobile users, future Internet is actively researched world-wide. The proliferation of smart objects including smartphones, smart TV, smart fridge, etc. enables the Internet of Things (IoT) environment to become reality in which various smart objects actively collaborate each other to provide users with services. Thus, IoT is considered as the core part of the future Internet research. Multiple smart objects are expected to be composed to achieve a user-level goal in future IoT environments. Moreover, the meaning of a smart space can be differently understood in terms of user preference, the type of a running service, the spatial-temporal contexts which we call“ placeness”. In order to consider the placeness when providing spontaneous services in smart spaces, further researches should be done including: placeness extraction based on IoT data collection and task mining, user preference inference based on multimodal contexts, and service (task) discovery and spontaneous provision by solving the heterogeneity of services. In this paper, we analyze each research items and provide the future directions by proposing a spontaneous IoT service framework architecture for future Internet environments.
