IEEE 802.16 계열의 Wireless MAN 표준 규격은 10-60GHz 대역을 고려한 광대역 고정 무선 접속 규격으로서, 이를 baseline으로 하여 2-11GHz 대역에서의 비직진파(non-line-of-sight) 통신 환경을 고려한 IEEE 802.16a 규격이 제정되었으며, 나아가 현재는 이동 환경을 고려한 IEEE 802.16e Mobile Wireless MAN 표준화 작업이 진행되고 있다. 본 논문에서는 IEEE 802.16 계열의 물리 계층 및 MAC(Medium Access Control) 계층 규격을 분석하고 그 기술적 특성을 살펴본다.
Abstract
IEEE 802.16 wireless MAN standard specification is originally designed for the broadband fixed wireless access systems over 10-60GHz band, which now has been turned into the IEEE 802.16a standard specification with MAC modifications and additional physical layer specification by taking the non-line-ofsight communication environment over 2~11GHz band into account. Furthermore, the corresponding baseline specification is now being amended again for mobility enhancement under IEEE 802.l6 TGe Mobile Wireless MAN. The objective of the current contribution is to understand the details of physical and MAC layer specifications for a series of IEEE 802.16 standards while studying their underlying technical characteristics.
