최근까지 이종망간의 핸드오프 결정 알고리즘에 관한 연구는 다양한 QoS 파라미터를 갖는 이종망들을 합리적으로 평가하는 방법에 초점을 맞춰왔다. 하지만, 이러한 알고리즘들은 이동하는 단말기가 현재망 보다 더 좋은 평가를 받는 망을 만날 때 마다 핸드오프를 함으로써 핸드오프 횟수를 증가시키는 단점을 가지고 있다. 그래서 본 논문에서는 누적 만족도와 누적 서비스 시간이라는 네트워크 정보를 이용하여 빈번한 핸드오프를 줄이는 핸드오프 알고리즘을 제안하였다. 시뮬레이션을 통해 제안한 알고리즘이 기존 알고리즘에 비해 핸드오프 횟수를 줄이는 데 뛰어난 효과가 있음을 보였다. 특히, 유저의 이동성이 많고 이종 네트워크의 종류가 많은 차세대 네트워크 환경에서는 성능 면에서도 뛰어난 효과를 보임을 밝혔다.
Abstract
Recent researches about vertical handoff decision algorithm have focused on how to sensibly evaluate heterogeneous networks with various QoS factors. However, these algorithms make a mobile station switch its attachment point whenever it meets a target network which appears more favorable than current serving network, resulting in excessive handoffs. Thus, we propose a new vertical handoff algorithm based on network information such as cumulative satisfaction degree (SD) and cumulative service time to avoid frequent handoffs. We show via simulation that our algorithm outperforms existing handoff algorithms on the number of handoffs. We expect that the new algorithm can achieve superior performance, as compared with some existing algorithms, especially in the network environment which is characterized by high mobility and high dense network configuration.
