영재교육 대상자 선발을 위한 관찰･추천제의가능성과 한계분석
An Analysis of the Possibilities and the Limitations of the Observation and Nomination Systems for the Identification of the Gifted: Focusing on the Concept Mapping Approach

본 연구에서는 개념도연구법을 활용하여 영재담당교사들이 인식하고 있는 관찰․추천제의 가능성 및 한계를 탐색해 보고자 하였다. 이 연구를 위해 10명의 초점집단 영재교사들이 관찰·추천시스템의 가능성과 한계에 대해 작성한 진술문을 산출, 종합, 분류하고 이를 기초로 다차원 척도와 위계적 군집분석을 실시하였다. 여기서 산출된 문항들을 가지고 110명의 영재담당교사들이 다시 각 문항에 대한 중요도와 실현가능성 및 극복가능성을 평가하였다. 이 연구의 주요 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 관찰·추천제의 가능성에 대한 브레인스토밍 결과를 토대로 진술문을 종합한 결과 14개의 진술문이 도출 되었으며 이들 14개의 진술문에 대한 비유사성 평정 자료를 사용하여 다차원 척도분석을 한 결과 2차원 개념도 제작에 필요한 stress 값은 .211이었다. 개념도에 나타난 진술문의 좌표 값을 기초로 위계적 군집 분석을 실시한 결과 영재 선발을 위한 관찰･추천제의 가능성에 대한 인식은 ‘영재교육 분야의 다양화’, ‘영재 교육의 인식개선’, ‘잠재 영재 발굴’, ‘영재 선발의 신뢰 회복’ 범주로 나타났다. 둘째, 관찰·추천제의 한계에 대한 브레인스토밍 결과를 토대로 진술문을 종합한 결과 30개의 진술문이 도출 되었으며 30개의 진술문에 대한 비유사성 평정 자료를 사용하여 다차원 척도분석을 한 결과 2차원 개념도 제작에 필요한 stress 값은 .287이었다. 개념도에 나타난 진술문의 좌표 값을 기초로 위계적 군집 분석을 실시한 결과 영재 선발을 위한 관찰･추천제의 한계에 대한 인식은 ‘관찰･추천 시행에서의 운영상 문제’, ‘관찰･추천제의 부작용’, ‘담임교사의 자질문제’, ‘관찰･추천 기준의 모호성’ 등 4개의 범주로 나타났다. 연구의 결과는 영재교육의 현장적용 맥락에서 논의되었다.
Abstract
The purpose of this study is to explore the possibilities and the limitations of the observation and nomination systems for the identification of the gifted through the concept mapping approach. For this study, ten gifted education teachers composed two statements regarding the issues in question, and these statements were examined using the multi-dimensional scale and hierarchical cluster analysis. The stress values for the two times were .211 and .287, which were appropriate for two-dimensional point maps. In addition, 110 gifted education teachers rated the degree of importance of the statements and the realistic possibility of the ideas suggested for the observation and nomination systems. Results were as follows. First, regarding the possibilities of the observation and nomination systems, four categories were drawn from 14 statements: 'diversifying gifted education,' 'increasing public awareness of gifted education,' 'discovering the potential gifted,' and 'restoring confidence in the identification of the gifted.' Second, regarding the limitations of the observation and nomination systems, four categories were drawn from 30 statements: 'the operational problems in implementing the observation and nomination systems,' 'the side effects of the observation and nomination systems,' 'the qualifications of the teachers,’ and 'the vagueness of the observation and nomination criteria.' Practical implications of the study were then discussed in depth.
