Abstract
Multi-cell transmission schemes with codebook-based precoding have been proposed to improve the performance of the cell-edge users and to reduce the feedback overhead of users in multi-cell environments. Conventional schemes can be categorized into two types: one is that all cooperative base stations employ the same precodingvectors in order to reduce the feedback overhead. The other is that each cooperative base station employs the different best precoding with the increase of the feedback overhead in order to improve the performance. However, since those conventional schemes cannot guarantee the constructive combining of the signals from the cooperative base stations, there is still limitation in the performance improvement. In this paper, we propose a codebook-based multi-cell transmission scheme with phase compensation by which the signals from the cooperative base stations can be combined constructively in a target user. Simulation results show that the proposed multi-cell MIMO transmission scheme has better SINR and BER performances than conventional schemes. It is also shown that only 2 additional bits are enough for the user to report the phase information.
