대학생의 대인 관계가 인터넷 중독 수준에 미치는 영향 : 스트레스 대처 방식을 매개변인으로

본 연구는 대학생의 대인관계와 인터넷 중독과의 관계에서 스트레스 대처 방식의 매개효과를 알아보고자 하였다. 이를 위하여 대학생 425명을 연구대상으로 하였다. 연구 대상자를 살펴보면 남학생이 236명(55.5%), 여학생이 189명(44.5%)이었으며, 측정도구는 성인 인터넷 중독 진단척도(이순묵 외, 2005), 대인관계척도(IPPA-R), 스트레스척도(김정희, 1987)를 사용하였다. 본 자료의 분석은 SPSS 15.0을 사용하였으며, 기술통계량과 상관분석, 회귀분석을 실시하였고, 다중회귀분석을 통한 매개효과를 검증하였다. 연구 결과, 대학생은 집에서 인터넷을 가장 많이 사용하고 있었으며, 정보탐색에 가장 많은 시간을 할애했다. 인터넷 사용으로 부정적인 측면으로는 신체적인 과로와 학업 저하, 대인관계의 문제 등을 들었다. 고위험군에 해당하는 학생은 적었으나 정상 사용자만큼(49.2%) 잠재적 위험군(50.4%)에 해당하는 학생들이 많았다. 대학생의 대인관계와 스트레스는 인터넷 중독과 관련이 있었으며, 스트레스 대처 방식 중 소극적 대처 방식은 대인관계와 인터넷 중독과의 관계에서 매개적 역할을 하고 있었다. 즉, 대학생이 대인관계에서 의사소통을 잘하지 못하고, 타인에 대한 신뢰감이 부족하여, 소외감을 느낄수록 스트레스에 소극적으로 대처하여 인터넷 중독에 빠질 위험이 컸다. 따라서 대학생의 인터넷 중독과 관련한 프로그램 개발 시 이러한 점에 초점을 맞추어 스트레스 대처능력을 높이는 내용이 포함되어야 할 것이다. 본 연구의 의의와 제한점이 함께 제시되었다.
Abstract
This study examined the mediated effect of stress coping strategies in the relations between interpersonal relationship and internet addiction of university students. A total of 425 university students(236 were male, 189 were female) participated in this study. The methods of measurement are Adult Internet Addiction Scale(Sun-mook, Lee, 2005), IPPA, Stress coping strategies scale. It employed statistical analysis, correlation, regression and multi regression analysis using SPSS 15.0 win in order to investigate how interpersonal relationship was related to internet addiction. The result showed followings. University students mostly use internet at home, spend the time in searching information. The nagative aspects of internet useage are overfatigue, study failure, interpersonal problems and so on. Interpersonal relationship of university students and stress coping strategies are related to internet addiction. Futhermore, interpersonal relationship of university students effected internet addiction partially mediated by passive stress coping strategies. If university students have bad communication skills, distrust their friends in relationship, they have passive coping strategies in stress, so that they have more risk of internet addiction. Therefore interpersonal relationship of university students directly influenced internet addiction, also influenced by passive stress coping strategies. In future, developing a program for internet addiction of university students should be considered that stress coping strategies must be included. Limitations of the current study and implications for future study and counseling practice are discussed.
