부정적 사건 경험이 청소년의 자살생각에 미치는 영향: 성별 및 빈곤의 조절효과 중심으로

본 연구는 고등학교 3학년 청소년을 대상으로 그들의 자살생각에 과거 부정적 사건경험이 영향을 미치는지 조사하였다. 특히 스트레스 취약성 모델을 근거로 사건 경험의 영향이 성별과 빈곤여부에 따라 다른지 그 조절효과를 분석하였다. 더 나아가, 전체 사건 경험을 경험 시기 별(아동기 vs. 청소년기), 사건 종류(폭력피해 vs. 불안정성 사건)별로 구분하여 그 영향력을 비교하였다. 이를 위해 한국청소년정책연구원에서 구축한‘ 한국청소년패널자료’(중학교 2학년 자료)를 분석한 2차 자료 분석방법을 사용하였다. 주요 통계 분석 방법으로는 다중회귀 분석방법과 상호작용 패턴분석을 위한 pick-a-point 접근이 활용되었다. 분석 결과, 과거 부정적 사건 경험은 청소년의 우울 및 비행 등을 통제한 후에도 자살생각에 유의미한 영향을 미쳤다. 조절변수의 경우, 성별만 효과가 나타나 여자청소년이 부정적 사건의 영향을 더 많이 받는 것으로 드러났다. Pick-a-point 분석을 통해 부정적 사건은 여자청소년의 자살생각에만 유의미한 영향을 미친다는 것을 밝혔으며, 이를 그래프로 표시하였다. 부정적 사건을 처음 경험한 시기 별로 상대적 영향력을 비교했을 때는 아동기와 청소년기 경험 사건 둘 다 유의미한 영향이 나타나지 않았다. 부정적 사건의 종류 별로 상대적 영향력을 비교했을 때는 주거 및 양육자 불안정성 사건보다는 폭력 피해 사건이 자살생각을 높이는 데 유의미한 영향이 있는 것으로 나타났다. 특히 여자청소년들이 남자청소년에 비해 폭력 사건을 더 많이 경험한 것으로 나타났고, 빈곤청소년이 일반청소년에 비해 불안정성 사건을 더 많이 경험한 것으로 드러났다. 이 결과를 바탕으로 청소년상담에 대한 함의를 논하였다.
Abstract
The study examined the association between adverse experiences and suicidal ideation in Korean youths. This investigation took the timing and categories of the adverse experiences into the account. In addition, based on Diathesis-Stress model, the study considered the differences in the effect of adverse experiences according to the gender and the economic status(poverty status) of the studied adolescents. Using secondary data analysis methods, the study analyzed the data from the third and the fifth wave of Korea Youth Panel Survey(KYPS). As statistical methods, multiple regression analysis, t-test, and descriptive analysis were used. To probe interaction, pick-a-point approach was also utilized. The study results showed that the adverse experiences in general were positively associated with suicidal ideation of the youths. Only gender showed moderation effect, which indicated that girls were influenced more than boys by adverse experience on their suicidal ideation. For preventing adolescent suicidal behaviors, implications for counseling were discussed.
