의사결정나무분석 방법을 이용한 학부모의 학교참여활동 관련 요인 탐색

본 연구는 의사결정나무분석을 활용하여 학부모의 학교참여 활동에 영향을 미치는 요인을 파악하고자 하였다. 이를 위해 한국교육개발원이 2010년도 수행한 선행연구의 설문자료를 사용하였다. 분석결과, 전체 집단 학부모의 경우, 자녀의 학교급, 질문지 응답자와 자녀와의 관계, 맞벌이 여부, 면담의 제도화 찬성 여부가 학교활동 참여에 영향을 미치는 중요한 요인인 것으로 나타났다. 초등학교 학부모 학교활동 참여에 영향을 미치는 주요 요인으로는 질문지 응답자와 자녀와의 관계, 맞벌이 여부, 면담의 제도화 찬성 여부, 자녀의 학업성취도였고, 중학교 학부모의 경우는 면담의 제도화 찬성 여부, 질문지 응답자와 자녀와의 관계, 부모의 최종학력, 맞벌이 여부였으며, 일반고의 경우는 면담의 제도화 찬성 여부, 자녀의 학업성취도, 자녀의 친구이름, 질문지 응답자와 자녀와의 관계였다. 본 연구는 학교활동에 참여하는 학부모들의 특징을 변별하고, 학부모 학교참여 활성화를 위해 중요하게 다루어야 하는 변수들을 확인하는 하나의 방안을 제시하였다는데 의의가 있으며, 연구의 결과는 교사와 학부모간 면담의 필요성 및 맞벌이 부부의 학교참여를 활성화시킬 수 있는 방안의 필요성을 시사한다.
Abstract
This study examines the factors influencing parents' involvement in children's schools. Collected data are analyzed using a decision tree analysis. The analyses are performed on different data sets, including overall, elementary school, middle school and high school levels. The results show that the main factor for parental involvement for overall school levels are the child's school level, the parent-child relationship, whether parents both work (dual income), and whether a parent supports mandatory regular meetings with child's teachers. The results are meaningful in that they help identify the characteristics of parents who participate in their children's school activities and provide a measure to ascertain important factors to encourage more parental participation in their children's school activities. Furthermore, the study suggests a need for more regular meetings between parents and teachers and a need for measures to encourage dual income parents to become more involved in their children's school activities.
