The transformation of museological and heritage practicesin the past decade continues to face challenges: not leastin seeking to integrate tangible and intangible heritage. The majority of endeavours continue to aim to combine theestablished perspective of safeguarding the tangibleheritage with approaches seeking to incorporate intangibleheritage, but the dialogue is still largely being controlled bythe ‘establishment’. However, it is encouraging to reportthat demonstration projects have emerged using theconcept of First Voice in order to find the balance betweenthe old and new practices with respect for culturaldiversity.
