성학대 피해 자녀를 둔 어머니의 경험에 관한 질적 메타분석

성학대 피해는 아동에게 부정적인 영향을 미치지만 그들의 부모로부터 경험하는 보호와 지원 등은 성학대 피해 후유증으로부터 벗어나 일상으로 회복하는데 중요한 역할을 한다. 그러나 성학대 피해는 자녀뿐만 아니라 부모에게도 충격적인 경험임을 감안할 때, 본 연구는 성학대 피해를 경험한 자녀를 양육하는 어머니의 경험에 대해 심층적으로 탐구하는 것을 목적으로 질적메타분석을 수행하였다. 국내에서 학위논문과 학술지로 출판된 8편의 연구를 활용하여, Nobilt & Hare(1988)의 절차에 따라 7단계로 연구 절차를 수행하였다. 본 연구결과는 14개의 범주와 45개의 하위범주 주제어로 정리되었고 이를 기반으로 양육경험의 패러다임 모형을 도출하였다. 본 연구결과 성학대 피해 자녀 양육 과정의 패러다임 모형을 도출하였다. 우선 인과적 조건으로 ‘자녀의 성학대 사건이 발생함’이며, 맥락적 조건으로 ‘충격, 죄책감으로 혼란스러움’, ‘가족과 주위의 외면과 비난을 받음’, ‘가해자에게 유리한 제도에 분노함’으로 정리되었다. 중심현상은 ‘부모로서 성학대 피해 자녀를 양육함’이며, 중재적 조건은 ‘사건을 있는 그대로 받아들임’, ‘부모인 내 역할이 중요함을 인식함’, ‘사회적인 서비스를 제공받음’으로 정리되었다. 작용/상호작용 전략은 ‘양육태도를 달리함’, ‘아이를 지키는 환경을 구축함’, ‘부모자신을 관리함’으로 도출되었다. 마지막으로 결과는 ‘아이와 가족이 회복되어감’, ‘엄마의 역량이 강화됨’, ‘후유증과 재발생에 대한 두려움’으로 분석되었다. 어머니의 경험은 자녀의 성학대 사건으로 충격과 혼란 속에서도 자신의 상황에 대한 수용과 역할을 재인식함으로써 부모로 재탄생하는 과정이었다. 본 연구결과를 토대로 성학대 피해 자녀를 둔 어머니를 위한 개입에 대해 맥락적 조건, 중재적 조건, 상호작용 전략 중심으로 실천적 제언을 제시하였다.
Abstract
Child sexual abuse negatively affects children, but parental protection and support help them heal after trauma. However, child sexual abuse is a traumatic experience not only to children but also to their parents; thus, this study aimed to explore experiences of mothers of sexually abused children, using a qualitative meta-analysis. Materials used for data analysis were eight articles published. Data analysis was performed in seven stages guided by the procedure of Noblit & Hare. Data analysis, using a grounded theory approach, resulted in 14 categories and 45 subcategories that generated a theoretical model of parenting experience. The emergent model includes components as follows: "the occurrence of child sexual abuse" as a causal condition; "shock, confusion with guilt," "being neglected and criticized by family members and their surroundings," and "angry at the system in favor of perpetrators”as contextual conditions; "raising sexually abused children" as a central phenomenon; "accepting the incidence as it is," "recognizing the importance of my role as a parent," and "receiving social services" as interventional conditions; “changing parenting attitudes”, ”creating an environment to protect children”, and ”taking care of themselves”as action/interaction strategies; and "children and families being recovered," "parenting competence being improved," and "dealing with trauma and fear of recurrence of child sexual abuse" as results. Overall, the mothers’experience was described as the process of being reborn as a new parent, accepting the situation and re-recognizing their role as a parent despite shock and confusion from child sexual abuse. Based on these findings, practical suggestions were presented for interventions tailored to mothers of sexually abused children.
