자립준비청년 대상 심리상담에서의 상담자 경험에 관한 질적 연구 : 포커스그룹인터뷰(FGI)를 중심으로

본 연구의 목적은 자립준비청년을 대상으로 심리상담을 진행한 상담자 경험을 탐색하여 자립준비청년을 위한 심리상담에서 고려점과 제안점을 모색하는 데 있다. 이를 위해 상담자 13명을 3집단으로 나누어 포커스그룹인터뷰(FGI)를 실시하였다. 자료 코딩과 분석은 Terry와 Hayfield(2021)가 제시한 성찰적 테마분석(reflexive thematic analysis) 방법에 따라 질적자료 프로그램인 MAXQDA 2022을 활용하여 수행되었다. 인터뷰 내용은 총 4개 테마, 12개의 하위테마로 정리되었다. 4개의 테마는 「여러 결의 ‘보호종료아동’을 맞닥뜨리다」,「벼랑 끝, 모호한 치료적 경계 위에서 분투하다」,「여전히 진행 중인 보호종료아동과의 상담경험을 되짚고 성찰하다」,「깨어있는 상담자로서 생존자인 ‘자립준비청년’을 만나려고 한다」이다. 연구참여자인 상담자들은 여러 결의 자립준비청년을 심리상담 장면에서 만나면서 다양한 감정적 경험과 분투를 경험하고 치열한 자기성찰 및 반성 과정을 겪었다. 이러한 상담자들의 경험을 바탕으로 자립준비청년과의 상담 개입 시 상담자들이 고려할 점과 효과적인 개입의 방향성을 제시하였다.
Abstract
The purpose of this study was to explore experiences of counselors working with youths transiting out of the child welfare system to better understand clients’ counseling experiences and to identify contextual considerations that could inform counseling services. For this purpose, 13 counselors, randomly divided into three groups, participated in a focus group interview(FGI). Interviews were analyzed using MAXQDA 2022, based on a five-phased reflexive thematic analysis guided by Terry and Hayfiled. Four themes and twelve sub-themes were identified. The four themes were「Encounter a Diverse Group of Youths Transitioning Out of the Child Welfare System」,「Emotional Turmoil in Ambiguous Therapeutic Boundaries」,「Embark on Self-Reflection to Explore Unfinished Counseling Experiences」, and「On Becoming a Prepared Counselor for ‘Youth Survivors Preparing for Independence’」. Findings showed that the counselors experienced various emotions, faced struggles, and went through the process of self-reflection, while working with a diverse group of youths transitioning out of the child welfare system. Contextual considerations in counseling practice for these youths and practical implications are discussed.
