관동대지진 중국인 학살에 대한 진상조사와 추모활동

1923년 9월 1일, 미증유의 대지진이 일본 관동 지방을 덮쳤다. 관동 지방은 가옥 붕괴와 화재로 막대한 피해를 입었다. 지진 이후의 혼란 속에서 수천 명의 조선인과 700여 명의 중국인은 일본의 군대·경찰·자경단등에 학살당했다. 사건 직후 중일 양국의 민간 유지들이 증거수집에 나섰고 중일 양국 정부도 이 사건을 둘러싸고 외교교섭을 벌였으나 일본정부의 은폐정책과 중일 정국의 급격한 변화로 중국인 학살사건이 역사의 뒤안길로 사라져버렸다. 1970년대 들어 중일 학자들의 자료 발굴을 통해 비로소 사건의 진상이 드러났고 1990년대부터 중일 양국 시민들에 의한 피해자 유족 지원 활동이 전개되었다. 본고에서는 관동대지진 때의중국인 학살사건을 개관하고 1920년대부터 오늘날에 이르는 100년 동안중일 양국 학자와 민간 유지들의 진상조사와 추모활동을 상세하게 정리하여 관련 분야의 연구를 심화시키고자 한다.
Abstract
On Sept. 1, 1923, an unprecedented earthquake hit the Kanto region of Japan, causing devastating damage to Japanese society. On the other hand, Chinese workers in the Kanto region suffered further disasters. During the chaos after the earthquake, about 700 Chinese workers were slaughtered by Japanese military, police and vigilante groups. Immediately after the incident, the Japanese and Chinese governments attempted diplomatic negotiations over the incident, but the massacred incident disappeared behind history due to the rapid change in the political situation of China and China. Since the beginning of the 1970s, the truth of the incident has only been revealed by the discovery of historical materials by Chinese scholars, and since the 1990s, the Japanese private sector volunteered to support the bereaved families of victims. In this article, we would like to investigate the truth and memorial activities of massacres conducted by scholars and intellectuals of China and China for 100 years from the 1920s to today, and deepen research in related fields.
