Abstract

In this study, the actual situation of voice phishing, which has become a serious social problem, is considered and effective countermeasures are presented. The number of cases has decreased slightly, but the amount of damage has been on the rise at the current status of voice phishing over the past five years. Looking at the fraudulent methods, the loan fraud type showed much more both the number of occurrences and the amount of damage than the institutional impersonation type. Contrary to the prejudice that the elderly are mainly the victims by age, the most damage occurs in those in their 40s and 50s who are active in society and have economic ability, and the damage among young people in their 20s and 30s is also increasing somewhat. According to data from the Financial Services Commission, voice phishing-related crimes have been on the decline in recent years, but messenger phishing, a new type of crime, is on the rise every year. In the main cases of voice phishing, I looked at cases in which phone financial fraud crimes were prevented through wise responses by financial institution employees, successful cases of police self-response, and cases related to the latest voice phishing methods introduced on the Voice Phishing Keeper website of the Financial Supervisory Service. Finally, as countermeasures against voice phishing, strengthening cooperation with related companies, establishing a pan-governmental response system, strengthening the publicity of the voice phishing prevention system, strengthening the delayed withdrawal system, strengthening international cooperation, strengthening education and public relations for the vulnerable, publicity targeting criminals and the public Reinforcement and damage recovery support were suggested.
