Abstract

(Research background and purpose) Currently, single-person households have become a universal household type, accounting for the largest proportion of household types. The purpose of this study is to analyze the characteristics of single-person households by type and derive policy implications that affect the satisfaction of the current central government's housing support program. (Method) This study analyzed the factors affecting use satisfaction were analyzed using the data of the "2020 Housing Survey". Housing support programs implemented by the central government are classified into three types: housing fund support, housing supply support, and other housing support programs. In addition, according to demographic, socioeconomic, and housing characteristics, alternatives for housing stability of single-person households in the future were suggested by type. (Results) The analysis results of this study are summarized as follows. First, the overall satisfaction level of single-person households with the use of housing support programs was in the order of housing supply support, housing fund support, and other housing support programs. Second, the factors of single-person households that affect the satisfaction of using the housing fund support program were the type of occupancy, age, region, housing type, and housing and residential environment satisfaction. Third, the Housing Satisfaction of supply support program that affect the one-person households, Housing and Residential Satisfaction and form factor is of the public rental housing, tenant willing to have my house, appeared with a ritual. Fourth, other factors of single-person households that affect housing support programs were housing type, region, housing structure, housing and residential environment satisfaction, and consciousness of own home ownership. (Conclusion) The main implications of this study for the future direction of single-person household housing policy are as follows. First, it is necessary to change the direction of the current single-person household policy by reflecting the change in the demographic structure and the increase in single-person households. Second, the housing fund support program should expand the current housing cost support system centered on young people to low-income, homeless elderly households. Third, the housing supply support program should carefully analyze the characteristics of various single-person households to prepare a customized housing supply plan for each type to prevent the occurrence of blind spots for poverty. Fourth, when preparing other housing support programs, a new operation method is needed for housing stability of single-person households, such as diversifying supply types by subdividing the characteristics of single-person households by age and class, and flexible rental systems. It is expected that this study will be used as a reference material for establishing measures to improve the effectiveness of housing support programs for single-person households in the future.
