세계화 속의 지역 박물관: 중국 지역 박물관의 장소 애착 전략 연구 -중국 서북부 중소형박물관을 중심으로-

Abstract

(Background and Purpose) The purpose of this study is to provide elements and methods for encouraging topophilia in small and medium-sized local museums in China. Through this, the study aims to enhance the external competitiveness of local museums in urban spaces and emphasize locality designs based on regional characteristics. (Method) Various literature and case studies are used to reveal the relationship between place attachment measurement items and museum design elements. The formative factors of place attachment include intimacy, self-expression, meaningfulness, satisfaction, the core of life, and irreplaceability, while the design elements of the sense of place are related to the relationship with the surroundings, the continuity of space, and the visualization of meaning. Based on this, the degree of place attachment and spatial design strategy elements were evaluated through in-depth case analyses of three museums (Shudong Ruins Museum, Dongzuo West Railway Station Architecture Museum, and Xi'an Qujiang Art Museum) that reflect the unique natural environment and cultural characteristics of northwestern China. (Results) The study results show that these regional museums strengthen place attachment and cultural connection through distinctive design strategies. The Sudong Relics Museum realizes architectural and spatial design that emphasizes the unique historical meaning and symbolism of prehistoric local history. The Dongzuo West Station Architectural Museum is constructed in a way that focuses on popular intimacy and national traditions while establishing close relationships with local culture. The Xi'an Qujiang Art Museum is constructed by aesthetically integrating unique Chinese historical elements into functional space utilization to provide visitors with a satisfying experience. Such strategies meet the needs of visitors while enhancing the appeal, experience, and participation of the museum, demonstrating the need to consider place attachment and placeness in museum architecture. (Conclusions) In order to strengthen the place attachment of future regional museums, it is necessary to comprehensively consider the role of symbolic images and visual cultural networks, the importance of protecting national traditions and ecology, the use of functional space, and the integration of China's unique historical elements. This study analyzed and classified the characteristics of place attachment and its formative factors, and provided a theoretical framework based on an emotional appeal. In addition, this study can be used as empirical reference for effective planning and implementation for regional and small and medium-sized museum staff, and through this, it aims to strengthen the connection between museums and local culture and improve visitors' experience.
